How Often Should You Deep Clean an Artificial Turf Field?

"Low maintenance" is not "no maintenance." Synthetic turf takes hundreds of hours of play a year, and every hour leaves something behind. Here's a schedule that keeps a field safe, consistent and looking sharp.

Daily and weekly

Walk the field. Pick up trash, check seams and inlays, and look for low infill in high-traffic areas like goal mouths, the center of the field and team bench zones. Spot-clean spills and anything organic right away.

Groom weekly during the season, changing direction each time so fibers don't lay over in one direction.

Quarterly

Plan a deep clean about once a quarter. That's the work routine grooming can't do: decompacting infill, pulling embedded debris and fines, sanitizing and deodorizing. Industry pricing averages about $0.15 per square foot per deep clean, so a typical 100,000 sq ft football field runs around $15,000 a visit.

Every year

Test GMAX at least annually, check infill depth across the field and log everything. Good records protect your warranty and help you plan for replacement. That's what YourFieldIQ™ was built to keep track of.
